  • Rehana Sheikh

    Rehana Sheikh has been offering assorted courses for members and their helpers at the Y since 2003. She teaches cooking, both Western and Asian classes, during the day and in the evenings for couples. She also coordinated Y’s signature course ‘At Home in Hong Kong’ and took members for hikes, historical tours around Hong Kong and fun spice trips and to places of interest. She created courses offering guidance to employers on the process of employing domestic help like interviewing, importance of references, and relevant skills and experience and more.

    Cooking: Her signature course now is the extensive and detailed ‘Cooking and Kitchen Management’ for helpers held three times a year. She has been conducting the Cooking and Kitchen Management course for helpers for the past 10+ years.  Her courses are well-received with consistently positive responses.

    She is now starting mah-jong lessons.

    Mahjong: She is also a mahjong enthusiast- playing for over over 20 years and teaching for over 10 years. She is completely self - taught in all versions of mah-jong and regularly plays the Hong Kong Cantonese, Taiwanese and Vietnamese versions. Rehana has been offering Cantonese mah-jong lessons to expatriate ladies privately in their homes at their request.She has offered courses for members of American Women’s Association (AWA) office and the American Club. She was interviewed by two Chinese magazines, NEXT in 2006 and Golden Age (GC) in 2009 in a feature article about various foreigners mastering and teaching a range of popular local activities.
